Swedish-based Hans Andersson works for a company where he programs and develops business software, but on his spare time, he likes to build robots that do cool things, like tell time digitally, solve sudoku puzzles and solve Rubiks Cube puzzels. His love for robots traces back to 2008 when he purchased a Lego Mindstorms kit for his two daughters in an attempt to inspire an interest in technology, but it wasn’t the girls who took to the robot scene, it was Andersson. His Time Twister Lego Digital Clock is super cool (albeit a little noisy). It consists of Lego Mindstorms bricks that communicate via Bluetooth technology. The master brick keeps track of the time and handles the minute digits, while the slave brick handles the hour digits and the second hand indicator.
Each digit consists of 5 layers of black and white tiles laid out in various patterns. Each layer can rotate 360 degrees before hooking onto another layer.
If you share the same super-nerdy-but-awesome obsession with Lego Mindstorms and robots, be sure to check out Andersson’s official website where he provides downloadable instructions on how to re-created a Tilted Twister bot of your own.
