Another goodie from J&D Foods is here, but this time, instead of bacon-themed, the deliciousness takes the form of Sriracha “Rooster Sauce” hot sauce.
For those of you who live under a rock, Sriracha is a type of hot sauce named after the coastal city of Si Racha in the Chonburi province of Thailand where it was first produced for dishes served at local seafood restaurants. The sauce itself is a paste of chili peppers, distilled vinegar, garlic, sugar and salt. Traditional Thai Sriracha sauce tends to be a little more on the tangy and sweet side, and runnier in texture than the non-Thai versions – the most popular non-Thai version is the Huy Fong Foods brand (commonly known as “Rooster Sauce”).
J&D Foods has partnered with Matthew Inman, the brains behind one of our favourite sites, The Oatmeal, to put together the Sriracha Popcorn flavour. The popcorn is more delicious than it sounds – we’re not just talking about a bunch of popped corn sprinkled with Sriracha fairy dust. Nope. This flavoured popcorn boasts the same ingredients that comprise the Rooster Sauce (garlic, red chilli peppers, sugar, vinegar and salt) all of which team together to simulate the yummy and spicy goodness that has made Sriracha Rooster Sauce a favourite all over the world.
