New Orleans-based artist, Craig Tracy, is known for his unique works of art, appropriately titled Bodypaintings that involve human subjects who lend their bodies to act as the canvas for Tracy’s paintings. Tracy uses many techniques in his Bodypainting works when applying pigment to the human body, including traditional paintbrush application, finger painting, sponging, splatter and dripping application and airbrush. Inspired by culture, nature and intellectual constructs, Tracy’s awesome imagery is whoa-worthy for obvious reasons, but our favourite aspect of his work is found in the thrill of attempting to distinguish the background from the body. A single work of art takes Tracy days of planning and preparation, while the actual paint application process can take hours – a major feat for models who have to endure the painting while maintaining a specific pose. Tracy’s abilities to create thought-provoking and interesting works of art have resulted in his being commissioned to create advertisements, promotional materials and more.
