It’s a well-known fact that the best part of an Oreo cookie is the creamy filling. Judith G. Klausner, a Massachusetts-based artist, likely agrees, which is why she created a collection of altered food items for her latest art series called “Food Scratch”. This interesting series includes classical style cameos carved out of Oreo cookie cream filling in 2011. Klausner used straight pins, toothpicks and a balled-tip sculpture stick to create the intricate details of the subjects’ facial contours and hair. We give kudos to Klausner for working with such a small-scale medium (an Oreo cookie has a 2″ diameter and a total width of ¼”) and for practicing enough self-restraint that allowed her to photograph her works before devouring them.
