Artist Joe Black is known for his mosaic-style works of art, and this fabulous piece depicting an ape from famous movie, Planet of the Apes. To make this work of art, Black used 12,000+ pieces of black, white and grey Legos, assembled so carefully as to translate into depth and shading when viewed from a distance. His second set of Planet of the Apes art works were made using 57,000 stainless steel ball bearings that were mounted on aluminum. The painstaking amount of work that must have gone into these pieces is truly impressive, and we’re glad Black has the patience to work in such a unique medium so that we can admire his ape art.
