iPAD HEAD GIRL

Although very little commentary is needed to accompany this video, we will tell you that “iPad Head Girl” is a girl who walks through New York City’s Bryant Park wearing a helmet of four iPads, but don’t worry, she’s not nuts, and she’s not just a really clever NYC artist-robot. iPad Head Girl is part of a viral marketing stunt by the Hearst Corporation to get more people to buy Cosmo for Guys, an iPad version of Cosmopolitan magazine for men. Anyone who is brave enough to press iPad Head Girl’s “home” button is redirected to a page within the magazine.

“Designed by Clockwork Apple in Brooklyn, New York, it was custom fitted to the actress’ head (but of course). The crew went ahead to record the girl as she walked around four times directly onto each of the iPads. To ensure that the whole image does not look disjointed when viewed, the camera operator had to take advantage of a custom iPad mount on a “Glide-Cam.” Since she had to see where she was going without looking like a clumsy person, there was a pair of video glasses connected to a video camera that is located inside her purse. Must’ve been quite the claustrophobic experience, don’t you think so?

Of course, to make sure the actress remained comfortable at all times, ice packs were applied to her neck between takes in order to minimize discomfort.” – ubergizmo.com
