In March 2012, a renegade team from Mint Digital conceived a plan to let the world create their own cardboard friend. They feared it was an impossible dream… but the first prototype proved just too loveable. After 4 days, locked away in the countryside, they had a crude working version of Foldable.Me. People were excited but there was one problem. Foldable.Me needed hairdos, lots of hairdos. And chins, beards, eyes, lips and noses too. In order to realise their dream of creating a Foldable of anyone, they needed to draw thousands of facial features and outfits. Not a small task. They turned to Kickstarter for help. Within a couple of days they’d smashed their funding goal and ended with 1000% of what they needed. Happy days! They could now hire a great illustrator. Over the next 6 months the team cranked out thousands of illustrations, stacks of code and went through a pile of different cutting tools. Along the way, Foldable.Me picked up more than 18,000 signups to their launch mailing list and received press coverage from Manchester to Taiwan. Along the way, the Foldable.Me team became surprisingly intimate with the details of cardboard manufacture and papercut first aid.

Foldables weigh in at a mighty 10g and stand 8.5 cm tall (roughly 3.5in). Each Foldable is made to order using our secret blend of matt laminate cardboard and high grade inks. They are precision cut and scored to be sturdy little souls – but they wouldn’t be much good in a fight.
Foldables are $11.99 each and shipping worldwide is totally free!!
