One of our favourite new Tumblr blogs is called “Emceez Ansari” and features the face of LA-based actor/comedian Aziz Ansari photoshopped in place of famous hip hop artists’ faces on popular album covers. Album covers such as “The Blueprint 2″ by Jay-Z, “Get Rich or Die Trying” by 50 Cent, “The Chronic” by Dr. Dre, “Double Up” by R. Kelly, “Pink Friday Roman Reloaded” by Nicki Minaj, “Graduation” by Kanye West, “O.N.I.F.C.” by Wiz Khalifa, “Ready to Die” by the Notorious BIG, and more.
Ansari began his career performing standup comedy in New York City during the summer of 2001 while attending New York University. In 2007, he created and starred in the critically acclaimed MTV sketch comedy show “Human Giant” which ran for two seasons. This led to acting roles in feature films including “Funny People”, “I Love You, Man”, “Observe and Report”, and “30 Minutes or Less”.
Hip Hop fans are likely to appreciate these works of altered album art the most, but you can’t help but giggle at the absurdity of it all, especially since Ansari had nothing to do with this hilarious Tumblr series. Once he learned of it, he did post a message on his personal Tumblr called “Aziz is Bored” thanking whoever is responsible for creating “Emceez Ansari”.
