Good news, Back to the Future fans! An electric version of the DeLorean will be available for purchase in 2013, as announced by the DeLorean Motor Company of Texas. The all-electric DeLorean debuted at the DMC Texas Open House event on October 14 2011. The vehicle will have a 400 volt AC induction liquid-cooled electric motor, 260 horsepower a top speed of 125 mph and a 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds. The Flux Power LifePO4 battery requires 3.5 hours of charge time from empty to full. A fully charged battery will provide 100+ miles of city driving and last seven years (or 100,000 miles).

The DeLorean Motor Company is working with electric-car startup company, Epic EV, to make one of pop culture’s favourite vehicles an electric reality.
