Custom Area-Code Toques From Luigi Sardo

One of our favourite Canada-based shoe and accessories lines, Luigi Sardo, recently starting producing winter toques inspired by designer Mark Lacaria’s home base of Toronto, Ontario. The toques are made of thick knit acrylic yarn and feature chunky knit custom text on the front and back panels. The toques have become the latest craze in winter wear, with more and more buyers becoming interested in sporting a toque that proudly states their city airport code on the front, and a customized message on the back. Originally, the toques were sold with ““416YYZ” on the front panel – an homage to Lacaria’s hometown of Toronto, and “L.SARDO” on the back panel.

The toques are available in different city airport acronyms (both US and Canadian cities) and 10 colourways, but the real kicker is the option to add custom text. Lacaria claims that most buyers are interested in having their nicknames on the toques, or the name of a sports team (or, if you’re the super-fly type, you can always order a Luigi Sardo toque of your own with WHOA! on the back. Just sayin’).
The toques take 10-12 days to produce as each unit is custom knit to spec.
