    You do realise some of these pictures are post mortem? The kids with the rozy coloured cheeks are dead, as is the girl that is standing in the third picture. Look closely, and you’ll see the stand that is propping her corpse up. The eyes are painted on and the stand clamps around the waist and neck to keep the body standing. Stiff wires are holding the arms in place. Creepy? Or a way to remember the way a person was in a time when photography was very expensive, most people only had their picture taken once and death was a big part of life? I think there is something beautiful and emotional to be seen, even if most people nowadays think post mortem pictures (especially the victorian ones with a propped up body) are creepy and morbid.
