Jason D’Aquino is a miniaturist – he creates artwork on an incredibly small scale, many works not exceeding one inch by one inch in dimension. These graphite illustrations were done on strike-on-front matchbooks as a result of D’Aquino’s appreciation for what he refers to as “found canvases”. We love the idea of a teeny treasure being revealed upon the opening of a matchbook – a quirky place to find an interesting work of art.
