

The Hario Cold Water Coffee Dripper sounds like a great product – in case the title didn’t give it away, this coffee dripper produces a smooth, mellow brew using the classic cold-drip method perfect for making full-flavoured coffee concentrate ideal for iced beverages and for use in cooking and baking. Now, unless you like a super concentrated cup of joe, you’re going to want to mix the coffee with hot water to enjoy a hot cuppa the conventional way. The dripper works by slowing dripping cold water through finely ground beans – a process that eliminates the bitter oils and acids that are extracted at higher temperatures. Once water is added to the brewing chamber on top, it will drip into the middle chamber that holds coffee grounds covered in a small paper filter. Coffee flows through the stainless steel filter into the heat-treated glass pot below up to a total of 26 ounces of coffee concentrate (which is enough to make approximately 2-6 cups). We love the look of this product – a lot sleeker than some of the clunky percolating coffee machines on the market. The clear glass and acrylic vessel allows you to watch the entire coffee dripping process – and if you haven’t yet had a cup, this may be just the type of mellow entertainment you need before the caffeine courses through your veins (note: the actual slow drip process can take 5-7 hours…so…make sure to have an alternative ready in the meantime if you’re waiting to make a cup of hot coffee).
