Alvaro Tamarit has collected and re-purposed an array of old books in order to create the “Banco del Pensamiento” (“The Bench of Thought”). The piece can be touted as a sculptural work of art, but also functions as a seat thanks to the base which is reinforced with wood and a glossy varnish which adds resilience and protection to the otherwise delicate paper book covers. The Spain-based designer has completed a whole range of work through the process of recycling focused on forming a pieces that mix the functional and sculptural.
