Image is everything, especially for celebrities, so it’s no surprise when one of our favourite mixed media artists, Hengry Hargreaves, came up with this fun photography project where he has paired a set of gold sunglasses with a celebrity name. The idea is that each celebrity’s sense of style (and dare we say swagger?) can be summed up in a single pair of sunglasses that the celebrity is known for wearing. Is it true that Hunter popularized the aviators? Maybe not (but it seems to be the case in Hargreaves mind), but we still get a chuckle at the idea that his style and persona can be identified by a single pair of glasses. A comical way to draw a connection between celebrities and the personalities they portray to the media.
Hargreaves began his career in the arts as a model in front of the camera, as a self-proclaimed “pin-up boy for revered fashion houses as Prada, YSL, Jil Sander, Lacoste” working with the top photographers in the game. Four years ago, he settled in New York and built a studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. He now practices photography full time, specializing in still life and fashion photography.
