Mixed media artist, Henry Hargreaves, has decided to commemorate the Beatles by dedicating a work of art to them – he has created enormous portraits of John, Paul, Ringo and George using nothing more than slices of bread – white Wonderbread, to be specific. Hargreaves achieves various levels of tone and shade merely by toasting the slices of bread at varying degrees. The work is part of an on-going series called “Toasted”
Hargreaves began his career in the arts as a model in front of the camera, as a self-proclaimed “pin-up boy for revered fashion houses as Prada, YSL, Jil Sander, Lacoste” working with the top photographers in the game. Four years ago, he settled in New York and built a studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. He now practices photography full time, specializing in still life and fashion photography.
